BIOGRAPHY
徳永 彩／Aya Tokunaga
高校時代に米国・カリフォルニア州に留学、Victorvalley高校を卒業。
米国より帰国後、多摩美術大学映像学部に入学。
学部では8ミリフィルム・16ミリフィルムなどによる動画作品の制作を皮切りに映像制作に触れる。その中で選択した写真実習の授業で初めての一眼レフでの撮影をした。叔母から譲り受けたMINOLTAの一眼レフが初めてのカメラだった。
三色分解やモノクロ現像、カラー現像など暗室作業に夢中になり、朝一番に暗室に入り、夢中で作業をし、外に出ると日が暮れている日常を過ごした。
ソラリゼーション、レイヨグラフなど、色々な技法を試した。
学校を出てからは、昼は編集プロダクションで働き、制作は自室で夜専門の暗室作業。
NIKONのFM2の黒を手に入れたのはその頃。
夜通し焼き続け、写真を床に並べては構成を考えていた。
旅をしては写真を撮り、写真を撮ってはプリントをしていた。
制作したポートフォリオと共に南仏で行われているアルル国際写真フェスティバルに行ったのもその頃。その時にアルラタンホテルの中庭で数々のキュレーターに作品を見てもらい刺激を受ける。そこでヘルムート・ニュートンに遭遇し一緒に写真を撮ってもらった。友人の撮ったピンボケの写真は今でも良い記念だ。
また、当時のキュレーター、ジャン・クロード・ルマニーによりパリ国立図書館に作品が収蔵されることになる。
コマーシャルの世界に足を踏み入れたのは90年代の後半。
そこから現在に至るまで、学生時代に培った英語力とコミュニケーション能力、そして持ち前の観察眼で様々なジャンルのスチール撮影を手がけている。
何気ない瞬間をありのままに切りとり、ふんだんに情感を刺激するようなそんな写真を目指している。
精神の有りようが変わると見えるものが変わり、写真が変わる。
そんなことにも気づきが有り、近年も意欲的に制作をしている。

TRAVEL TICKET TOシリーズ の制作はライフワークとして続けている。
Aya Tokunaga was born and raised in Tokyo,
Aya first picked up the camera at the age of twenty when she had attended Tama Art University to study filmmaking and photography.
At first, she was fascinated with all kinds of works in the darkroom. She jumped into the darkroom in the morning till the dark at night, had tried a lot of techniques such as solarization, photograms.
After she graduated from school, she started her career as a photographer.
At the time, she had worked on the portrait project, a self-portrait project, nude project.
Some of her fine-art works are a collection of Bibliothèque Nationale de France and Kobe Fashion Photo Museum.
Her ability to communicate in English which she had gotten during her high school in the United States had given her the opportunity to work with a wide range of people not only from Japan.
Her photographs share real moments in the lives of real people candidly and intimately.
As the commercial projects, she works mainly for magazines, CD covers, and clips for musicians, ads.
In either project of commercial work or fine-art, she has a passion to express the feelings between lines.
Through all the experiences of her work and life, Aya brings a very much depth of situational empathy to each shoot and every project.
As her personal fine-art project, she is now working on the several continuous projects titled “Photogenic!” and ”Travel ticket to…”.
